In March 2024, I was awarded the Overseas Merit Fellowship, a highly coveted study trip to sharpen critical thinking while solving world issues using a multidisciplinary approach. In collaboration with The University of Queensland (UQ), the two-week trip to Brisbane, centered around sustainability, involved seminars and visits to various labs and sites (such as the UQ Warwick solar farm).
Throughout the trip, we were required to work in groups to finish cumulative assignments that really got us thinking deeply and sharing our ideas with one another.
Our OMF experience culminated with a final presentation of our ideas. Our group ideated NeuroNexus, a platform to empower more employers to hire neurodivergent individuals to better unlock their potential.
NeuroNexus is a product of not only understanding a personal issue I faced, but also integrating the concepts of diverse mindsets and ‘two-eyed seeing’ obtained from the trip through a lecture on indigenous worldviews.
